Lessons in Keeping House

I was brought up by parents (and a Grandmama) who taught my siblings and I the importance of taking care of a home.  They taught us how to keep the house and yard clean.  When we were younger, we divided up the work and helped keep things running.  My siblings and I vacuumed, dusted, cleaned bathrooms, mowed the yard, swept porches, etc.  We didn't grow up in a fancy home, but it was modest and clean, and we took pride in it.  I think the value of hard work is a lost concept in today's world.  I see so many people have entitlement issues, thinking that just because they are who they are gives them the right to have whatever they want whenever they want.  I absolutely, positively DO NOT want my children to grow up that way.  We have incorporated "The Little House on the Prairie" mentality at our house, and it works great with homeschooling.  When we get up in the morning, we eat breakfast, do our chores, then we do our 'schooling.  My kiddos are hard workers, and I am so proud of them.

Monday, Funny Monday

In effort to distract the kids today, I planned a fun day.  We started off at the Health Adventure.  I hadn't been there in a long time...it was fun to go over to the new site at the Biltmore Square Mall.  The staff was incredibly friendly.  I didn't know Park Ridge Hospital had taken over.  They are such a great system, and it shows at the Health Adventure.  The kids and I had lots of fun playing and learning together.

After the Health Adventure, we had some Chick-Fil-A, then headed to Cinebarre.  We watched Arthur Christmas followed by The Muppets...you can't beat a $3 movie.  Afterwards, the kids and I came home and had tacos.

Tomorrow we plan on working hard at homeschool.  We are going to talk about the presidents and do some fun money math activities.  Until later...
