Pacific Perfection...

Today we thought Andrea and Matt would find out whether they are having a baby boy or baby girl.  Andrea went in for her ultrasound, but due to legal reasons, technicians are not allowed to share information about the ultrasound.  They send the information to the doctor's office, then those people will contact Andrea.  So, hopefully the doctor's office will call before I leave...if not, that's ok!  After Andrea and Matt returned from the doctor, we loaded up and headed to South Surrey/White Rock.  This is a very cool area with some retro and modern touches.  The sun was out, the breeze was gentle, and the ocean was serene.  It was a fabulous day to relax in the rays.

Sunny Day in Surrey...

So far, we have had a beautiful, sunny, and warm day here in the Vancouver area.  This morning after breakfast, Andrea, Titus, and I went to the Langley Event Centre.  Andrea used to work there and now still works with the Event Centre as part of her job at Trinity Western.  The Langley Event Centre is AWESOME.  They have an amazing playground and fabulous splash park...for FREE!  Titus had so much fun, and Andrea and I didn't mind at all to sit back and soak up some rays.  After playing in the sun, we dried Titus up and headed to Olive Garden for lunch.  Yum!  Next, we went and did some window shopping and tried to burn off our Italian calories.

Fort Langley

Today, Andrea, Titus, and myself visited the town of Fort Langley, the birthplace of British Columbia.   I would like to go back another time and spend an entire day at the actual fort and grounds as well as the quaint town.  There is a lot of historical information in Fort Langley, and I would very much like to explore all of that.  Today, however, we enjoyed a nice stroll through the town, went in to various shops including a great children's consignment shop, a toy store, a kitchen store, and a gardening store.

There is an old depot in Fort Langley that reminded me of scenes from Anne of Green Gable...loved it!  There were train cars to tour, but they weren't open today.  Next time, for sure!!!

We also made a stop to see where Andrea works at Trinity Western University...so cool to get to see where she works so hard.

***While I was working on this blog, I somehow lost about 10 pics from today between my phone and computer :-(  Oh, well, I still have some sweet pictures, and I'm ok with that.

Mellow Monday...

Today was another great day in Canada.  Andrea, Titus and I went grocery shopping and then to the movies to see Brave.  Andrea had a great coupon where she and I got in for free and got 2 drinks and 1 popcorn.  We had a good time staying inside during another rainy day.
We spent the rest of this chilly afternoon inside watching some old Batman shows, starting some online baby registries for Baby Downey, and playing the Wii (well, Titus and Matt did).  Andrea made a delectable dinner of tortellini, garlic bread, and veggies.  All in all, a great day!

Sunday in Surrey

Today was another fantastic day.  Last night, I slept soundly for 8 hours...another miracle for my sleep cycle.  I truly believe it is the open windows that bring in the breeze from the Pacific.  This morning, we all woke up and got ready then headed for church.  Andrea and Matt attend the Village Church.  Titus was a bit worried about going to his class, but when we went to pick him up, he had had a great time.  Village Church was a great experience....wonderful worship leader and team and a captivating pastor.  I truly enjoyed being able to worship with Andrea and Matt.

After church, we came home for some leftover Chinese food.  We took the rest of the day easy.  We went to a few stores and looked around.  Titus and Matt played the X-box.  For dinner, Matt grilled some delicious burgers on the grill.  Now, Matt, Andrea, and Titus are playing some Mario Kart before bedtime.

Sweet dreams to you all.  And, more tomorrow...

Busy, busy, busy....

Uncle Matt and Titus in the morning...

Today was a great day in Canada.  We started the day nice and slow.  Andrea made a delicious breakfast of French toast.  After everyone was showered and dressed, we packed a lunch and hit the road.  Matt and Andrea took us to West Vancouver.  We went on a mission to find a crib for Baby Downey, and the mission was accomplished at a really neat baby store called Lusso Baby.  They were having a good promotion where the crib mattress was 1/2 off when a crib was purchased.  The crib will be in next week, but we were able to go ahead and bring the mattress home.
The crib for Baby Downey
Mama and Dad (the Duprees) have ordered all of the bedding, and then some, for Baby Downey.  It has all arrived in Washington, and we should be able to get it soon.   Yeah!  Baby Downey is going to have a sweet nursery.  It's very exciting!
The Pacific Ocean

West Van (as the locals say)
After the satisfying shopping trip, we took to the beach.  We went to Ambleside Park in West Vancouver.  From this view, you can see Stanley Park, the Lionsgate Bridge, and (what we think) was Vancouver Island.  When we arrived at the park, the clouds parted and the sun brightly shone down on us. We stretched out a blanket on the sand and had our lunch while taking in the stunning sights around us.

We drove around to another side of the park to let Titus run around for a bit on the playground.  This park was so neat.  There were ample spaces for people to grill out.  There were several birthday parties happening.  People with pets and kiddos were everywhere, including a dog in a tutu and a man with a parrot on his shoulder.  At the park, there were the standard toys and a wading pool.  Genius!  Then, there were benches tucked under shade trees where the grown ups could relax.

After a romp in the park, we went through the McDs drive-thru for some ice cream then drove up a mountain to get a better glimpse of the city and ocean.  We drove up to Cypress Provincial Park .  From there, we could see all the places we had traveled in the past couple of days.  The air was crisp and cool up the mountain, and the view was nothing short of spectacular.  God certainly has a wonderful imagination to have created such a diverse landscape!

Titus' new knight...we couldn't resist taking a silly picture

On our drive down the mountain, Titus fell asleep.  We let him snooze while the 3 of us decided what else we would like to do.  Matt suggested IKEA, and since I had never been to one, I jumped on board, much to Andrea's disdain.  We ventured through the monstrosity that is IKEA, then proceeded to ToysRUs/BabiesRUs just to see what's what and if there were any good deals.  Sadly, there weren't, but it was still nice to look around.  From our shopping attempt, we headed to Ming and Sing, which is the best Chinese food ever!  We came home and ate.   Right now, Matt and Titus are playing a video game, Andrea is looking up baby stuff online, and I am wrapping up this blog.  I hope each of you has a peaceful evening.  Until tomorrow...
SNOOZE!!!
